Meth Lab Decontamination Services

Meth Lab Decontamination Services

Australia has one of the highest rates of illicit meth use in the world. Meth (also known as speed, ice or crystal meth) is a synthetic (man-made) drug.

Meth is manufactured in illegal, hidden laboratories known as ‘clan labs’. These labs often mix various forms of amphetamine (another stimulant drug) with other chemicals to boost its potency. Common pills for cold remedies are often used as the basis for the production of the drug. The ingredients are cooked using improvised equipment to extract the active ingredients from those pills. Then combined with inexpensive chemicals, such as battery acid, drain cleaner and antifreeze to increase its potency. These dangerous chemicals are potentially explosive and endanger others in nearby homes or buildings.

Even the cooking process itself is dangerous, producing around five times more toxic waste than the meth produced. This waste material seeps into furniture or porous items such as timber, clothes, food and carpets within a property.

Clandestine meth labs (drug labs) are often set up in rental properties but can be found almost anywhere, in hotels, restaurants, sheds, garages, storage units, caravans homes and even cars.

Health Risks

Meth residue clings to surfaces and permeates into walls and soft furnishings. When people come in contact with these surfaces, meth can be ingested through their skin or by touching their mouth, nose or eyes.

Unpleasant side effects of exposure to meth residue include itchy skin, breathing difficulty, sinus problems, headaches, nervousness, anxiety, irritability, paranoia or loss of concentration.

Meth labs are considered hazardous waste sites and should only be entered by appropriately trained meth lab remediation technicians.

Meth Lab Cleanup Services

If your property has been used as a meth lab, you need to call in a specialist team of technicians to decontaminate the area, before you or your family enter your property. Under no circumstances should you enter or attempt to clean the property yourself without appropriate personal protective equipment including full-face respirators.

In fact, the authorities will most likely prevent you from entering your property until it has been made safe and is deemed fit once again, for human habitation.

Our Cleaning technicians are fully trained and certified providers of meth decontamination and remediation services. When we arrive at your property, we will decontaminate and sanitise all of the hard surfaces and where an item cannot be sufficiently cleaned of chemical residues, it will be removed and safely disposed of.

Following the decontamination process, the property will be re-tested and samples sent to an independent laboratory for analysis. Once the property is deemed to be safe we will provide a report, including results certified by the laboratory that performed the analysis, that the property is fit for re-habitation.

Finding out that your property has been used as an illegal meth lab is a very overwhelming and distressing time. We understand your distress and your need for privacy and discretion to ensure that your property is returned to you as soon as possible.
